To be approached to show a new series of my botanical work was incredible. It was the boost I truly needed while giving me a positive focus, something I find an essential thing in my day to day life.
‘Capturing the Beauty of Our County’s Flowers’ has been a significant project to work on this year and a brilliant new direction for my photography. It focuses on photographing Devon-grown flowers to help in supporting the local community. It has been such a joy to create this series, that I plan to work on a continuation, where I photograph the flowers in bloom during the Summer season, as the current exhibition features a range of beautiful local flowers that bloomed in the Spring.

With being completely bed-bound (due to various chronic illnesses) for over three years now, to have a particular focus in my life with what I’m most passionate about has been a real boost for my mental health. We all need something positive to look forward to, especially when times are challenging. I’m very grateful for this opportunity to exhibit my work at such a wonderful space/hub in Exeter.

The only disappointment is the fact that I’m unable to view the exhibition myself due to my health. But, to be sent photos of my work on the walls of the Park Café means such a great deal. And thankfully, this series will be on display until the end of August.
The images were printed by Mike Crawford, a specialist printer from Lighthouse Darkroom. Mike truly did a superb job with the twelve 20×16″ prints.
Prints are now available of this series on Hahnemühle German Etching fine art paper. Get in contact if you would like to discuss ordering a print.
I would like to thank everyone for their support with this botanical series, it truly means an awful lot to receive the messages of encouragement. I very much look forward to capturing the continuation of stunning locally grown flowers during the current Summer season.
